Travelling south from Hokitika through native forests with stunning views of mountains and lakes we arrive at Franz Josef Glacier. On arrival we visit the Glacier viewpoint via an accessible forest walking track - 30 minutes return. Or if flying is more your thing then book a helicopter flight which could take in both glaciers plus a snow landing and an amazing up close view of Mt Cook. There are numerous other activities in Franz Josef to see and do also...and you will have 2 hours duration to choose from either a boat trip on Lake Mapourika, Quad biking in the rainforest. Or you may like to visit Kiwis & Tuatara at the Wildlife Centre then have refreshments at Snakebite Cafe. All of this and return to Hokitika the same day.
